Description

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion (finely diced)
  • 1 1/2 cups long grain white rice
  • 3 cups chicken stock (or vegetable broth)
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)
  • 23 bay leaves

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the finely diced onion and sauté for about 5-6 minutes until soft and translucent.
  3. Stir in the long grain rice, ensuring each grain is coated in butter.
  4. Pour in the chicken stock (or vegetable broth), season with salt and pepper, then add the bay leaves.
  5. Cover the pot, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cook for about 10 minutes.
  6. Turn off the heat, keeping the pot on the warm burner for an additional 10 minutes.
  7. Fluff the rice gently with a fork, removing the bay leaves before serving.

Notes
