Description

A comforting and flavorful Cajun Shrimp Etouffee with a rich sauce and tender shrimp, perfect for a cozy dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups seafood stock
  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice for serving
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the flour and stir to make a roux, cooking until it turns a light brown color.
  3. Add the chopped bell pepper, onion, celery, and garlic, cooking until the vegetables soften.
  4. Stir in the Cajun seasoning and let it bloom for a minute.
  5. Gradually whisk in the seafood stock and bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Add the shrimp and cook until they turn pink and are cooked through.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream and heat for another 2-3 minutes until creamy.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve over cooked rice and garnish with chopped green onions.
