- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups seafood stock
- 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked rice for serving
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the flour and stir to make a roux, cooking until it turns a light brown color.
- Add the chopped bell pepper, onion, celery, and garlic, cooking until the vegetables soften.
- Stir in the Cajun seasoning and let it bloom for a minute.
- Gradually whisk in the seafood stock and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add the shrimp and cook until they turn pink and are cooked through.
- Stir in the heavy cream and heat for another 2-3 minutes until creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve over cooked rice and garnish with chopped green onions.
