Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large potatoes
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or Gruyere)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (parsley or dill) for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Thinly slice the potatoes using a mandoline or a sharp knife; the thinner, the better!
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and add the minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
- Stir in the heavy cream, cheese, salt, and pepper, continuing to stir until the cheese melts into a smooth sauce.
- In a baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes and then pour half of the cheese sauce over them.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes and the cheese sauce until everything is used up.
- Cover your dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly, and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
