Description

Indulge in layers of tender potatoes enveloped in rich, gooey cheese for the ultimate comfort food experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large potatoes
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or Gruyere)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (parsley or dill) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Thinly slice the potatoes using a mandoline or a sharp knife; the thinner, the better!
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and add the minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream, cheese, salt, and pepper, continuing to stir until the cheese melts into a smooth sauce.
  5. In a baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes and then pour half of the cheese sauce over them.
  6. Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes and the cheese sauce until everything is used up.
  7. Cover your dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
  9. Let cool slightly, and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

For variations, consider adding sautéed vegetables or experimenting with different cheese types.
