Description

A quick and delicious Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions recipe that’s perfect for busy weeknights, packed with flavor and colorful vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced thinly
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp ginger, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the soy sauce and cornstarch in a bowl. Add the sliced flank steak and marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant—just a minute or two will do!
  3. Add the marinated beef to the skillet and stir-fry until browned and slightly crispy around the edges.
  4. Toss in the sliced bell pepper and onion, stir-frying for an additional 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste, stirring well to combine, and serve hot, preferably over a bed of fluffy rice or noodles.

Notes

For better flavor, marinate the steak longer if time allows. Slice against the grain for tender strips, and stir-fry over high heat for best results.
