Description

Warm, sweet cinnamon rolls with creamy frosting—a perfect comfort food for cozy breakfasts or delightful desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Start by combining warm milk and sugar in a small bowl, then sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, salt, and eggs. Pour in the yeast mixture and mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, combining until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes, or until it’s doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together, then sprinkle this mixture over the buttered dough.
  8. Tightly roll the dough into a log and cut it into slices. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving space between them.
  9. Cover the rolls and let them rise again for about 30 minutes, until puffed up.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and irresistible.
  11. For the frosting, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla together until smooth and creamy.
  12. Once the cinnamon rolls are out of the oven and warm, spread the frosting generously over the top before serving.

Notes

Make-ahead by rolling the buns and storing them overnight in the fridge. Use unflavored dental floss for clean cuts.
