Description

A sweet and spicy preserve made from jalapeños, perfect for enhancing meals or as a thoughtful gift.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 cups sliced jalapeños (fresh or pickled)
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon dill seeds
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric, smoked paprika, dill seeds, and black peppercorns in a large pot. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Add the sliced jalapeños to the pot and mix well.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer for about 5-10 minutes.
  4. Sterilize your jars while the mixture simmers.
  5. Ladle the jalapeño mixture into the prepared jars, ensuring to include the syrup.
  6. Seal the jars and process them in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
  7. Allow the jars to cool at room temperature before storing them in a cool, dark place.

Notes

For a zesty twist, try adding diced peaches or mangos. Make ahead for enhancing flavors.
