Description

A cozy and flaky empanada dough recipe perfect for any filling.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour and salt together in a large bowl.
  2. Cut in the chilled, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually stir in the cold water until the dough comes together.
  4. Divide the dough into two balls and flatten them into discs.
  5. Wrap each in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Roll out each disc on a floured surface and cut into circles.
  7. Fill each circle with your choice of fillings and seal the edges.
  8. Bake or fry until golden brown.
