Ingredients

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
- Mix the flour and salt together in a large bowl.
- Cut in the chilled, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually stir in the cold water until the dough comes together.
- Divide the dough into two balls and flatten them into discs.
- Wrap each in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out each disc on a floured surface and cut into circles.
- Fill each circle with your choice of fillings and seal the edges.
- Bake or fry until golden brown.
