Description

A comforting family favorite casserole that combines ground beef, potatoes, and creamy cheese for a delightful meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (halal)
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite cheese)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef and chopped onions in a large skillet over medium heat until cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Add the browned beef and onion mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  5. Finish layering with the remaining sliced potatoes on top.
  6. Mix the cream of mushroom soup with the milk and a pinch of salt and pepper, then pour over the casserole.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the top.
  8. Bake covered with aluminum foil for 60 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is golden.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

Make ahead by assembling the casserole a day in advance. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
