Description

This creamy and indulgent scalloped potatoes recipe is the ultimate comfort food, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 6 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic, cooking until softened and fragrant.
  3. Combine the heavy cream, salt, pepper, and thyme (if using) in a mixing bowl.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Pour half of your creamy mixture over the potatoes.
  5. Sprinkle half of the grated cheddar cheese on top, then layer the remaining potatoes over the cheese.
  6. Pour the rest of the cream mixture over this second layer of potatoes.
  7. Finish by sprinkling the remaining cheese on top.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and golden brown.
  10. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For make-ahead convenience, assemble in advance and refrigerate. Add extra baking time if chilled.
