Description

A comforting dish of flaky biscuits topped with crispy chicken and a drizzle of sweet, spicy hot honey.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 large chicken breasts, cut into strips
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 12 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and cut it in until the mixture is crumbly. Slowly stir in the milk until a soft dough forms.
  2. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it out to about 1-inch thickness and cut into biscuits using a biscuit cutter or a glass. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown and fluffy.
  3. While the biscuits are baking, marinate the chicken strips in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  4. After marinating, dredge the chicken strips in breadcrumbs, seasoning them with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat, and fry the chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  5. In a small saucepan, combine the honey and hot sauce over low heat. Stir until warm and well combined.
  6. To assemble your biscuits, place a piece of crispy fried chicken on top of each biscuit and drizzle generously with the hot honey sauce.

Notes

Make-Ahead Option: Prepare the biscuit dough ahead of time and keep it covered in the fridge for a day. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
