- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
- Top with half of the sliced onions, followed by half of the cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, onions, and cheese.
- In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream, butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until the butter melts.
- Pour the cream mixture evenly over the layered potatoes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 60-75 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
You can prepare the layers a day in advance and store in the fridge. Reheat in the oven for best results.
