- 1 block firm tofu
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (vegan)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Drain and press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into cubes or slices.
- In a bowl, mix the BBQ sauce, maple syrup, soy sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Toss the tofu in the sauce until well coated.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, and sear the tofu on all sides until golden brown.
- Transfer the tofu to a baking dish and pour any remaining sauce over it.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until slightly caramelized.
- Serve warm, drizzled with additional BBQ sauce or garnished with green onions.
Notes
For a crispier texture, slice the tofu into thinner strips before marinating. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
