Description

A flavorful Vegan Sweet and Spicy BBQ Tofu dish that combines sweet maple syrup and spicy BBQ sauce, creating a delightful meal perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block firm tofu
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (vegan)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Drain and press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into cubes or slices.
  3. In a bowl, mix the BBQ sauce, maple syrup, soy sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Toss the tofu in the sauce until well coated.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, and sear the tofu on all sides until golden brown.
  6. Transfer the tofu to a baking dish and pour any remaining sauce over it.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until slightly caramelized.
  8. Serve warm, drizzled with additional BBQ sauce or garnished with green onions.

Notes

For a crispier texture, slice the tofu into thinner strips before marinating. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
